Here at ZenGengo we try to make it as simple and easy as possible for teachers to create engaging and interactive language learning experiences. Our Video Gap Fill assignment type can automatically pull in the subtitles from thousands of YouTube videos and allow you to quickly and easily create a gap fill activity from the video.
However, due to technical restrictions, it is currently not possible to use the Video Gap Fill activity with certain YouTube videos.
All is not lost though, because you can also create video gap fill activities using the Text Gap fill assignment type. Here's how.
First, navigate to the YouTube video you want to use and click on "Open Transcript":
Next, click on "Toggle Timestamps" to hide the timestamps from the transcript:
After you have hidden the timestamps, copy the text and paste it into a new Text Gap Fill assignment:
Click "OK" and choose which words to remove:
Next, create a new Media Prompt, copy and paste the link to the YouTube video, and click the green check button:
You have now created an interactive video gap fill activity:
